Meet Our Team
Dr. Pamela Antoinette, Ph.D., CPC
Dr. Pamela Antoinette is a certified life coach and associate professor of qualitative research at Mercer University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, a master’s degree in College Student Affairs from Azusa Pacific University, and a Ph.D. in Leadership for the Advancement of Learning and Service from Cardinal Stritch University.
Her research focuses on interpersonal relationships, self-motivation, inspiration, resilience, and post-traumatic growth. She is the founder of Tandem Light Press, a publishing company, and the Holistic Institute for Creative Life Change. She facilitates speaking engagements and training sessions for audiences across the country. Additionally, she has written three books, has contributed chapters to scholarly publications, and presents her research extensively for national and international audiences.
The bulk of Dr. Pamela’s career has been spent in higher education, where she has fourteen years of professional experience. As a student affairs professional, she received training in suicide prevention, motivational interviewing, and substance abuse counseling. After completing her master’s degree in College Student Affairs, Dr. Pamela pursued her Ph.D. to better position herself to help develop leadership skills in others, particularly with the desire to help people live fulfilling, purpose-driven lives. As a member of Mercer University’s Educational Leadership faculty, the opportunity to utilize key coaching skills to compliment her work with students compelled her to pursue life coach certification in 2011. By seeking out the experience of seasoned experts and drawing upon her own holistic leadership background and curriculum development experience, Dr. Pamela launched the Academy of Creative Coaching. Her vision for the Academy of Creative Coaching is to offer a life-changing certification program that not only trains, but that also transforms. Thus, through the empowerment of the Academy’s graduates, they will in turn, empower the coachees they have the ability to touch through their own coaching practices and through the testimonies of their own lives.
Dr. Sonayia (Sony) Shepherd Akinlade
A popular and animated keynote speaker at major professional conferences, Dr. Sonayia (Sony) Shepherd Akinlade has authored and co-authored more than sixteen books. With an extensive background in professional coaching to educational entities, government officials, and international organizations, Sony specializes in crisis management and has provided on site crisis response and recovery support following many school crisis situations and major disasters around the world, including Hurricane Katrina, Tsunami in Indonesia, Haiti, and outbreaks in Africa and Asia. Sony’s expertise is highly regarded and she has also appeared on Good Morning America, NPR, CNN, FOX, MSNBC and 20/20.
Most recently, Sony served as the project lead for a curriculum development team web training program for the United States Department of Education as part of President Obama’s White House School Safety Initiative.
Dr. Akinlade earned her graduate degree in Clinical Psychology and earned her undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Spanish from Phillips University. She also has a Ph.D. in Public Administration & Emergency Response Policy.
Dr. Cherry Collier, Ph.D., MCC, MCNLP, CPCC, RCC
Faculty and Mentor Coach
Cherry A. Collier has spent over 19 years working in the field of human potential and personal empowerment as a behavioral psychologist. She specializes in enabling people to move out of their own way and achieve extraordinary results. She has a unique ability to touch the hearts and impact change in her audiences. Dr. Cherry is a Master Practitioner and Trainer of NLP Change Technologies. A professor of coaching school (CPCC). She received her Ph.D. and Masters of Science from the University of Georgia and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Spelman College with a degree is Psychology. She is a Master Certified Coach (MCC) through the ICF and Master Certified NLP Coach and Trainer (MCNLP) from the American Board of Neuro Linguistic Programing (NLP). Dr. Cherry is also a Registered Corporate Coach (RCC) though Worldwide Association of Business Coaches.
Sophia Casey, PCC, M.S.
Faculty and Mentor Coach
Sophia is a woman with a commitment to give, serve and guide others to reach their destiny. She specializes in empowering executive and senior-level leaders to achieve success in their professional and personal lives. Her passion lies in helping clients move beyond their challenges and obstacles, using their true Essence to attain their deepest desires. Her clients report that their work with Coach Casey empowered them to excel and enjoy greater career fulfillment, enriched relationships and increased work-life balance.
“Coach Casey” as she’s affectionately called, received her education at UCLA and John Hopkins University. She is founder of Sophia Casey Enterprises where she provides services as a consultant, a Mentor Coach and an instructor of new coaches for accredited organizations under the International Coaching Federation. She is passionate about learning and enjoys providing enterprise-wide training and development courses in public and private sector organizations. She trains virtually and in companies across the U.S. including New York, NY, Washington, DC and San Diego, CA.
Sophia’s vivacious personality and tell-it-as-it-is approach made her an easy choice to be offered a radio host position of her own life coaching radio show, The Coach Casey Show. The show’s rave reviews lead to further successes with The PLAYroom with Coach Casey show on Wsradio.com and the upcoming Conversations with Coach Casey show on SiriusXM/WHUR Voices.
Sophia’s favorite ways to replenish are singing karaoke with her husband, playing superheroes with her son and traveling the globe.
Dr. Charlyn Green Fareed, Ph.D., PCC, BCC
Faculty and Mentor Coach
Dr. Green Fareed is a human and organizational systems consultant, coach and action researcher who is adept at developing human potential and organizational effectiveness. A combination of natural ability, training, experience and commitment to transformative leadership, coaching and career development enables Charlyn to be a highly effective change agent. Dr. Green Fareed has a particular interest in the career, life, and leadership coaching needs of women in communities as well as women organizational leaders. She has devoted both her practice and research to providing maximum services to this population.
Over the course of her career Dr. Green Fareed has worked in for-profit, non-profit and university organizations providing management, leadership, career development and coaching to entry and mid-level employees and managers. As Senior Consultant of Genesis Coaching & Consulting, Charlyn and associates collaborate with clients to build, deliver and evaluate dynamic leadership development, career development and coaching services. Major clients are non-profit and governmental agencies that rely on her expertise to custom design management, leadership, and career coaching processes based on the unique needs of the organization. To achieve this, Charlyn draws from a variety of human and organizational concepts and tools to assist individuals and organizations meet their goals. Her expertise as a race, culture and gender diversity practitioner helps to further enhance the level of service she renders.
In addition to her coaching and consulting work, Dr. Green Fareed is a college professor and teaches graduate level courses in evidence-based coaching and undergraduate courses in leadership psychology, career development, organizational behavior and human resource management. As an action researcher, Dr. Green Fareed conducts women’s development and coaching research. A major aspect of her work examines how the inclusion of ethnic culture enriches adult learning experiences both in and out of organizations. Her work has been featured in coaching publications, conferences on women’s development and in a 2009 text on adult learning. Dr. Green Fareed’s current research is an investigation of the coaching experiences of women in low-income communities.
Charlyn has received certifications in Evidence Based Coaching (EBC), Professional Certified Coach (PCC), Board Certified Coach-Career Development Specialty (BCC), Dialogue, Deliberation, & Civic Engagement, Transformative Learning for Social Justice, Diversity Program Development & Facilitation, Mediation, Race Relations & Group Facilitation, Management & Employee Development. She received training in Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, DISC Management Assessments, and Holland Self-Directed Search Career Assessments.
Valencia Blunt-Hayles, CPC
Valencia is a skilled certified professional coach and founder of Agape Aspirations, where she provides relationship coaching to married and soon-to-be married couples. At the Academy of Creative Coaching, she assists with registration, enrollment, and student services. Valencia is an engaged and enthusiastic professional with an understanding of the unique needs of nontraditional learners and aspiring coaches. She is dedicated to providing the best possible service to the students and alumni she supports, as well as to improving processes to maximize outcomes and efficiency within the organization. Valencia enjoys managing a variety of activities that involve multiple departments and processes and is thrilled to be a part of the Academy of Creative Coaching team. (Photo coming soon)
Ben Powers, ACC
Faculty and Mentor Coach
Ben Powers is an executive, leadership, and career development coach with extensive personal experience in both large organizations and entrepreneurial start-up companies. He is also a pro-level international competitive sailor who understands firsthand what it takes to forge strong teams and leaders with winning strategies. He brings a depth of coaching skills and personal warmth and passion to individual and organizational clients committed to developing higher energy levels, more efficient and successful personal and business strategies, and measurable, sustainable results.
Over the past two years, Ben has dedicated himself to coaching dozens of business leaders and executives toward powerful and rewarding careers. He has nurtured 5 small companies from concept to success, including a VT prepared food venture with a team of 6. Ben also has 4 years of extensive training and experience in corporate settings, helping clients and team-members negotiate complicated financial investment options to meet performance goals. He mastered interpersonal and communication strategies to leverage individual strengths and build effective and mutually supportive relationships and networks among his team, external brokers and clients. He has nearly 10 years of experience building and leading successful teams of professional level sailors to compete and win at the national and international levels. Ben’s undergraduate education focused on the Psychology of team sports, coaching and leadership, honing skills as captain of a sports team and as a scuba instructor.
Ben specializes in shaping transition and challenge into opportunity. He inspires his clients, keeping them on track with tools and strategies that increase engagement. He has a passion for identifying and leveraging strengths, working through obstacles and developing a clear vision aligned with client values. Ben is an Associate Certified Coach, credentialed by the International Coach Federation, and is the ICF New England Rookie Coach of the Year. He is also a graduate of the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching, including the new Core Performance Dynamics program for Performance Coaching. Ben is trained and Certified in Energy Leadership and the Energy Leadership Index Assessment.
Karen H. Prevatt, M.Div., PCC, BCC
Karen H. Prevatt is Owner of Living Tall, Inc. @ www.livingtall.com an Ordained Elder in the South GA Conference of the United Methodist Church; an Endorsed Life Coach with UM Endorsing Agency of the General Board of Higher and Education and Ministry of the UMC; and Faculty Member of Coaching4Clergy and the Academy of Creative Coaching.
Karen earned her Associate of Arts and Associate of Science with Concentration in Education from Young Harris College, her BA with majors in Psychology and Interpreting for the Deaf from Maryville College, her M.Div. from Emory University and has completed postgraduate work with the University of Georgia in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coach Federation who received her training from the Institute of Life Coach Training.
Karen stopped growing physically at the age of 11, however her passion for personal growth keeps her and inspires others in Living Tall. Karen works with people and groups who are motivated, interested in their personal/organizational growth, develop their own action plans and are responsible for their results. Her clients range from those who are well established and successful in their vocations to those who are just beginning or transitioning.
Daniel S. Sheedy, MBA, ACC
Dan Sheedy is a Senior Executive Coach and Trainer with Novateur Partners. With more than 25 years of extensive business management, career transition and wellness experience, Dan partners with high performing, high potential clients across geographies and industries. He is both a skilled executive coach and an expert in helping professionals become more physically healthy so they can perform at the highest levels. Dan’s previous roles have included portfolio management for JP Morgan Investment Management and Sanford C. Bernstein, marketing and structured products development with GWG Life and Vida Capital.
Dan delivers dynamic and Co-Active coaching. Agendas are set by the client during an open, confidential and informal first meeting. After establishing a set of beneficial outcomes for the client Dan works with the client to attain those goals. Metrics can be set and feedback reviews arranged, depending on particular client needs. Specific areas that Dan has delivered the greatest client results have been in career transition, workplace communications,the style impact of individuals in workplace interactions (on seniors, subordinates, peers) andemployee wellness and motivation. Dan developed these areas of expertise as a direct result of his personal experience as a corporate leader and his transformation from a traumatic accident to an ultra-distance runner. He uses these experiences to inspire individuals and to provide individuals and corporations with tools to rise to the next level.
Dan’s education includes a Master of Business Administration in Management from Golden Gate University and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Auburn University. Dan is an accredited coach (ACC) and member of the International Coach Federationand is a trained co-active coach through the Coaches Training Institute (CTI). Additionally, he certified in the CCL-360 Benchmark assessment, and holds the credentials of Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) andFitness Nutrition Specialist (FNS) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
Berri Wells, M.S., CPC
Berri is a professional trained leadership and career transition coach; speaker and trainer. She is also the founder and senior partner of Turning Point Solutions, a consulting, training and coaching firm based in the Washington DC area. With degrees in marketing and adult learning and continuing education, she brings blends wit, humor and practical applications to her presentations and workshops. Since 1991, she continues to coach, facilitate and consult with thousands. In addition to consulting throughout the US her international experiences include living in Italy and designing/delivering leadership development for the US Embassy and USAID, Uganda. As a People-to-People ambassador and a training/learning SME, she visited South Africa to observe adult and distance learning, post-apartheid. Berri is committed to professional development and this year, completed the courses for the Certified Professional Coach Credential of the Institute of Professional Excellence in Coaching. Additionally, she is the Immediate Past President of the Maryland Career Development Association. The native Californian is a self-proclaimed, theoretical gardener who hopes to one day develop a green thumb. In the meantime, she enjoys murder mystery novels and Westerns. In memory of her mother, she and her daughter are volunteers with the Washington Regional Transplant Community. The native Californian is active in her church and has one daughter.
